GUEST DESIGNERS

Please welcome our guest designers this week – Sara and Franz.

A little bit about Sara

1.When did you start crafting and what made you start?

I started crafting about a year ago but my interest in card making started in 2009 when I wanted to do my own wedding invitations.

2.What’s your favourite colouring medium?

I usually use copic markers but I would love to learn to use distress inks!

3. Where do you craft?

I usually craft in my kitchen table with all the goodies aroud me  =)

4.What is your favourite MIC image/s?

Ooo I love the funny  elves  =)

5.Do you have a favourite type/style of card that you like to make?

Hmm… I don´t know in what style my cards belongs but I admire others chabby chic cards!

And here is Sara‘s fabulous card:

A little bit about Franz:

1.When did you start crafting and what made you start?

I start crafting less than two years ago. One of my friends talked me about scrapbooking  and to understand more about it, I typed this strange word on my computer and…a new world opened to my eyes! I was particularly fashinated by cards, images and coloring.  Since then I’ve never stopped to create whenever I can!

2.What’s your favourite colouring medium?

I love both Distress inks and Copics, it generally depends on the image. I would like to try pencils too, soon or late…

3. Where do you craft?

Oh! You touch a sore spot! I always craft on my living room: every night, when my little children are sleeping, I open my scrap-cabinet and put out all my things, when it’s time to go to bed (and for me is never now when I’m crafting!) I patiently put again everything in right order inside my cabinet, so I generally go to sleep terribly late!

4.What is your favourite MIC image/s?

I love backgrounds and houses so much, but I love images too: “Ardella”, “Cordelia” and “Sweet Devilina” are my favourites!

5.Do you have a favourite type/style of card that you like to make?

Yes, I love Vintage and Shabby Chic style and I’ve a weakness for shaped and shaker cards.

Here’s Franz‘s fabulous card for this week’s challenge.

TIPS AND TRICK

The idea this week is to create the impression that there is movement in your image by the way you colour the image. You can also add lines to create the same impression.

Here are some photos to inspire you…

See how the fur is pushed to the right and becomes slightly blury out of focus. The blurred background also helps give the impression of movement. FAST in this case.

This is a great example for how the folds on a dress show the direction in which the woman is jumping.

She is jumping forward (our right) as we can see the wind has caught the long dress and has pushed it toward the left of the image.

GUEST DESIGNERS

Please welcome our guest designers this week – Angela and Melanie.  We’re welcoming Angela back.  Here’s her fabulous card:

A little bit about Melanie:

1.When did you start crafting and what made you start?  I’ve always had a love of art and all things crafty. As a young girl, I was always gathering up odds and ends to stash away for crafty projects. Drawing has always been a passion of mine, and I used to spend many hours with a sketchbook in hand. As I got older, my artsy side went on a bit of hiatus as my focus turned to other things. A few years ago, the pastor of our church contacted me and asked if I would be willing to create some handmade cards for a Christmas fundraising project for some local charities. I went to the dollar store and armed myself with some stickers and various trinkets and tried to create some “nice” cards. lol  I soon got frustrated with my attempts and googled “handmade cards” for some ideas. This online search led me to several blogs where I learned about the world of stamping and Copic markers. I was absolutely floored by what people were creating! After doing some research for a couple of months, I made the plunge and bought my first three sets of Copic Ciao’s. I was completely hooked after my first five minutes of colouring. :)
2.What’s your favourite colouring medium?  My Copics! I love the vibrant colours and blending capabilities of these markers. I have occasionally added some additional shading with Conte Crayons or pencil crayons. I think it’s great to experiment with different mediums to achieve various effects.
3. Where do you craft?  Currently, all my crafting is done at my dining room table. My hope is to have my own craft space within the next year or so as I would love to have everything easily accessible and well organized!
4.What is your favourite MIC image/s?  That’s hard to narrow down as there are so many fantastic images! I adore the elves, fairies and mermaids. I also love Chantelle at the Races, Elizabeth and Juliette…just to name a few!  I love working on images with intricate hair and clothing. :)
5.Do you have a favourite type/style of card that you like to make?  I am a complete sucker for cards with a vintage flair. I love distressing, sewing on cards and crocheted trim. Browns, blues, greens and teals are the colours I often gravitate towards.

Here’s Melanie‘s fabulous card for this week’s challenge.

TIPS AND TRICK

Green, green, green – so many shades and colors.  Annika has a great video tutorial on coloring green leaves with prisma pencils on craft in this blog post.  Trying to figure out what Copics to use?  Check out this post by Marianne Walker.

GUEST DESIGNER

Please welcome our guest designer this week – Chris.  A little bit about Chris:

1.When did you start crafting and what made you start?  In 2008 with the intention of making a scrapbook. I soon discovered that I preferred to colour and make cards.
2.What’s your favourite colouring medium?  A difficult question for me as I love colouring with distress inks and pencils equally, they each have properties that I love.
3. Where do you craft?  On the dining area table.
4.What is your favourite MIC image/s?  I couldn’t possibly choose, they’re all wonderful and there’s such a good variety of styles.
5.Do you have a favourite type/style of card that you like to make?  I think my favourite type of card is probably one where the coloured image is the main focus of the card.

Here’s Chris’s fabulous card for this week’s challenge.

Please welcome our guest designer for this week, Angela.  A little bit about Angela:

1.When did you start crafting and what made you start?  I started crafting before my before my son was born and he’s 11 years old.  I started scrapbooking and then about 6 years ago I started stamping and making cards, but it wasn’t until I found images to color and then copics before I really got into it and then I never looked back.
2.What’s your favourite colouring medium?  My Copics and the Prismacolor Pencils, but I LOVE my Copics.
3. Where do you craft?  In my kitchen where I have to share my crafting space.  But I do have my own little space on 2 of my kitchen walls.  I also take my Copics and images to work and color on my breaks.
4.What is your favourite MIC image/s?  Oh that’s a hard one as I can’t even begin to pick any favorites as I love them all.
5.Do you have a favourite type/style of card that you like to make?  No, not really it just depends on what kind of mood I’m in and how much time I have to create it.  My style is all over the place.  Sometimes it’s simple and other times I add so much stuff to my creations.

Here’s Angela’s fabulous wall hanging for this week’s challenge.

TIPS AND TRICKS

Marianne Walke has a great post if you’re just getting started with coloring blades of grass.  Kim has a tutorial on Color me Copic.
