A NEW Monthly Challenge has arrived!!

This is Barbara and I’m here to bring you another challenge – but before we get to the details let’s announce the winners from yesterday’s “Sheer Clothing” challenge!! Wait, what was that? He he he. Ok, now that I got your attention, let’s get into the nitty-gritty details of a new monthly challenge… one that we double duper dare you to do!

However, now that I brought it up, be sure to check out the “Sheer Clothing” challenge as well as the Christmas-Birthday Blog Hop (with plenty of freebies, give-aways, and blog candies) which both end on Wednesday, October 12th!

NEW MONTHLY CHALLENGES

We have exciting new monthly challenges for everyone, including a challenge for all the design team members! The idea is for us to work on harder projects and share our progress throughout the month. We want to share our attempts, the things that went bad, what we learned from it and so forth. And we want you to be just as much a part of the experience and experiment with us! This is a coloring challenge and there will be  no winners as the benefit comes from learning and sharing.

Originally it was going to be just as you upload your latest attempt that you would write about your experience thus far, but instead, we have set up a thread in the “Message Board” section of the gallery, where we can discuss the challenge like a forum and look for tips and ideas that we can share with each other.

To start with, being October, we thought it would be fitting to try a …

“SPOOKY NIGHT SKY”

What is a Spooky Night Sky, what does it look like and how do I colour one?! To start off the discussion I thought I’d look up the words in the dictionary. ‘Night‘ is an easy one and is defined as “(1) the period of darkness between sunset and sunrise; (2) the darkness of night; the dark.” [ref] The ‘sky‘ referrers to the region of the clouds or the upper air; the upper atmosphere of the earth. [ref] The term ‘spooky‘ is a more generic and is slightly left to the interpretation of the individual, however, it is defined as (1) resembling or befitting a spook or ghost; suggestive of spooks; (2) eerie; scary. [ref]

That’s it then, right? You have enough to go off and create a project! Well, it’s hard to go off of just that so I then Google’d images and managed to find a few spooky scenes. Here are a couple ideas and links to where I found them:

“Night Sky Cobwebs” [ref]

“Red Halloween Scary Sky” [ref]

“Halloween Moon Night” [ref]

“Disney Spooky Moonlight Sky” [ref]

“Harry Potter Dark Mark Sky” [ref]

What fun this will be!!!  This challenge will go through the whole month of October.  To participate in the discussion and to upload you progress then come visit the Message Board and gallery HERE!  What are you waiting for – join in and tell us how your project is coming along!
