CHALLENGE #12 – ATMOSPHERIC PERSPECTIVE

This month we will be changing to include only one colouring challenge per month. It’s time for you to pull up your big girl panties, crawl out from under the table and tackle the harder challenges. No more taking on the easy challenge!

Atmospheric Perspective

What??!!

I was watching a video recently when I learned of the term ‘Atmospheric Perspective’ which is a term for describing the hazy look of mountains far off in the distance. Essentially what happens is the further away the object is, there are more particles in the air between you and the object and so the object tends to fade, become cooler in colour and looks further away.

There is a whole huge explanation to how this works but I’ll let the videos explain that! 😀 This is quite a tough challenge and the team and I struggled as we played around with ideas for this challenge but I promise once you give this a shot you’ll be so proud of yourself!!

Resources

Here are some videos of different artists explaining the process which is helpful.

Photo Inspiration

Also, here is a link to a google image search on Atmospheric Perspective – This is a perfect challenge to use a reference example to help! https://www.google.com.au/search?q=atmospheric+perspective&client=firefox-a&hs=aog&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=np&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=GC3XU7_JIcvt8AW7hoGACw&ved=0CB0QsAQ&biw=1920&bih=897

Pre-Made Scenes

Also if you would like to use one of the pre-made scenes at Make it Crafty > http://www.makeitcrafty.com/digital-stamps/popular/pre-made-scenes-en.html

You might find this quick little video I made useful. It shows how you can use MS Word to reduce the transparency of a section of the image which will be helpful when you are trying to create the ‘misty’ feel in the distance but want the front to be bold and bright.

I have also created a new video for those of you who would like to create your own scene using MS Word with Make it Crafty digi stamps.

Inspiration

Before you freak out, it is important that you know the images you are about to see were really tough for us too! We struggled as well and we were sharing our progress with each other in the design team group asking each other for support. Don’t be afraid because YOU can do it too and yo’re more than welcome to share your progress, possible disasters and when you triumph with us in the Facebook group here.

Please welcome our new Inspiration Dt Members
