Hi Everyone,
Welcome to another Saturday Colour challenge. This week is a SCARY challenge but if you are game I think you will really get something out of this.
This week we are sponsored by the LOVELY Whimsy Stamps!
They have lots of new images in store so be sure to pop on over and see what takes your fancy!
Whimsy sell the most gorgeous rubber stamps, plus for those of us who are just too impatient they also have a fabulous range of digital stamps.
PLUS PLUS PLUS – They now also have their own range of dies! Yup! Check em out here!
This week you have a chance to win FIVE digital stamps of your choice!!
woot woot! teehee
The challenge!
Reflect the colour of light or background or elements onto your main subject/s.
OK so I need to try and explain what it is.
The idea came to me when I thought about how photographers often say, don’t wear red when you are having your photo taken if you are fair skinned.
Apparently this can cause the red undertones in your skin to become more apparent as the red will reflect onto the skin when the photo is taken.
The camera is probably more sensitive or something.
So anyway, I thought this type of thing could be a really good challenge. To try and reflect the colour of surrounding objects OR light onto the surface of the main subject/s.
You might want to imagine a golden light, a purple background or even a blue light! But you need to imagine how this light might reflect onto your subject.
I found a fabulous blog the other day about photography and different lighting situations.
There are a couple of photos in particular of interest for this challenge
See how the blue is reflected onto the side of her face.
Red Clothing and possibly red lighting
You can see the glow of red on her skin
Here you can see how a golden light helps to create the shadows in her dress and creates a shine on her neck.
EXAMPLES FROM THE TEAM!!
So the team pretty much hated me for this challenge and many of them went and hid under a rock.
Here are the brave few that attempted this challenge! hehee
Debbie has reflected the shining light from the gold in the chest.
Debbie used the following images:
Meljen’s Ocean Floor Background from Whimsy Stamps
Tilda with Balloon from Magnolia
Ruby reflected the glow of the candles onto the characters.
She also reflected the colour of the rose and balloons.
Coloured with distress inks.
Ruby used the following images:
Flying Balloon from Make it Crafty
Ribbon hair Tilda, Birthday Tilda, Secret Tilda from Magnolia
Barbara has reflected the grey of the mushroom onto the little sprites
Here is a close up of before and after
Barbara used the following images:
Whimsical Mushroom, Cici, Fifi & Toto from Make it Crafty
Barbara also embellished her card with the Filigree Jewels laser cuts
Zoe
I coloured the background purple first and then imagine the purple light was reflecting onto the character.

I used Ebony at Beach from Make it Crafty
I also videoed myself as I coloured and I am hoping to finalise the edit and upload for tomorrow’s colouring tip!
SO LET’S GET COLOURING!!
Grab your favourite colouring medium, whether it be markers, pencils,
water colours or even digital colouring and see how you go
