Challenge #5 – Blend Blue and Purple Together

Hi Everyone!

I can’t believe it is February already! Time seems to just zoom on by and I still haven’t finished everything I had planned to do for January! heehee

I nearly lost half my team this week as it turns out I have set a bit of a tough challenge for everyone! Fortunately they decided to push themselves and really give it a go! I do hope you will challenge yourself this week and play along too!

This weeks sponsor is Karens Doodles!

Like many illustrators, Karen has been drawing her whole life and just loves to doodle!

She has worked with some amazing people over the last 50 years working in animation, children’s books, mascots and more.
She has also worked with Disney and Fisher Price and Mattel bringing their characters to life.

Karen thought it was time to bring some of her own characters to life and is sharing her passion for doodling with the crafting community. You!

She has a gorgeous range of realistic people, the most adorable animals and many of her images are quite jovial!

This week a random winner will be chosen who will win a choice of THREE images from Karen’s Doodles.

The Challenge!

As it turns out my team made me aware that this week’s challenge is tough.
It’s up to you to prove them wrong! Heehee

We want you to blend your purple and blue colours together

For those of you who have never strayed away from using family colours (dark blue, med blue, light blue etc..) I have a tip for you.

Pretend your purple is your shadows and your blues are the lighter areas.
This is a good way to start experimenting mixing different families together when you blend.

We will have a few challenges along the way that will prompt you to experiment like this so now is a good time to start practising!

IMPORTANT !!
This is a COLOURING challenge not just a colour challenge.

Entries not following the rules will not be eligible to win prizes. If you are at all confused about whether your entry will qualify, please contact us first.

Inspiration Time!

Please welcome our guest Michelle!

I found Michelle on Facebook of all places and she wowed me with her ability to colour with ProMarkers.
It turns out she also caught the eye of Letraset around the same time! They obviously know talent when they see it! heehee  Congrats Michelle.

Hi there…thank you for your compliment and question.
The butterfly is from a sheet of foiled acetate made by Kanban, which I’ve then coloured with V12 Copic and attached 3 pearls. I have to say that I’ve had it a while though. You could probably get much the same effect if you attached a silver butterfly ‘peel off’ to acetate…colour and cut out, then add the pearls. Sorry I can’t be more specific for purchasing…but hope that helps x

Beautiful and inspiring cards from the DT team, I admire your colouring. I’ve just entered your challenge and found it quite a stretch, but really enjoyable. Yes the challenge was a bit hard, but I feel I know my pens a lot more now. CoB
