Growing up on the north coast of New South Wales, Australia, I certainly had a beautiful, inspiring backdrop to help fuel my passion for art from an early age.
Fast forward a few decades and life's twists and turns brought me further up the east coast to Central Queensland, living opposite the Kepple islands and a stone's throw from the Great Barrier Reef.
I have 3 wonderful, although feisty and loud children that keep me on my toes and make it difficult for me to paint as much as I would like, however, seeing their creative sides grow as they learn different techniques from me is as rewarding as completing a new piece anyway!
Acrylic colour hasn't always been my go-to medium, although once I discovered it, I never looked back.
Entirely self-taught from my early teens, I started out with a healthy obsession for charcoal and got lost in many a black and white image/photo and shaded my way to a few humble sales to a café and a local hair salon- I was on my way!
Moving to our new location brought on a new confidence and a super-sized ambition to somehow incorporate painting into my everyday life.
I joined the local gallery and there I discovered my work was quite different and unique and to this day I'm still to find similar work to my own.
As far as inspiration goes, I have always lived on and loved the coast and I tend to paint in the same colours I see when I look around my small coastal town and its beaches.
Discovering fluid art was a turning point for me, it's organic, freeflowing movement is mesmerizing to watch and has a calming effect on me. I love how it takes on a life of its own and travels a path I could have never planned. Each piece is so unique!
It’s a lovely surprise to find a resemblance to our beautiful landscapes, islands and coral of the Great Barrier Reef within my fluid art creations. All my pieces eventually find their loving home, the space where they belong, where they were meant to be.

We as, Make it colourful® and Shelee have selected Trees for the Future amongst a certain number of charity organisations for many reasons especially the action of planting trees in an arid region like we can find in Africa, not only to help to rebuild the Earth lungs, but also to help to stop the desertification and retain the water in the soil which will allow other culture to take place.
Another reason is that Trees for the Future helps directly the communities in those countries by giving paid work and by valorising their work. The impact is enormous for these very poor communities and by this contribution, Trees for the Future creates new possibilities for them other than fighting for their survival.
And the third but not the least reason is that the administration fees are very low or almost not existing which means that there is a lot of voluntary work done by generous people to make this difference and we are very grateful for that. After discussing with Shelee and seeing a few of her posts on Instagram, I can certainly see that the quality of the air Shelee is breathing is something very important to her eyes. The accomplishment of her art is also very challenging for her in regards to her lungs. This is why together, Make it colourful® and Shelee, we have decided to support Trees for the Future and donate our profit to help planting trees. Each gif package sold will contribute to plant 120 trees. Help us to make a difference in this world.
Your donation has a direct impact on the earth and lives of the people who need it most. By helping us plant trees, you give families the ability to transition from unsustainable farming techniques to a Forest Garden system. Your donation not only sustains and empowers them, but also changes their lives forever.
Planting trees provides families with more than just food. It provides income, empowerment, unity, leadership, education and even saves lives. When we can teach people to value themselves and their environment, they see amazing improvements in their standard of living.
Our latest data indicates that the Forest Garden Approach ends hunger for most families after the first year. Only 13% of our project participants were food secure when they joined the program, and after just 12 months of planting Forest Gardens, 86% of our farmers are food secure.
Through the Forest Garden Approach, we are impacting the lives of their farmers and children, resulting in positive impacts for over 26,000 people so far. A total of 82% of our farmers have seen significant income increases and more than 92% now feeling capable to brace for any unforeseen circumstances the future may bring.
By decreasing the use of destructive farming practices such as burning, clearing and plowing, Forest Gardens reduce deforestation by eliminating farmers' dependence on forests for food, timber, and many other non-timber forest products. The positive environmental impacts of a Forest Garden are endless.
